Mountain biking is an expensive sport, and running a team takes a lot of logistics. Here's where we could use a hand all season:
- Bike parts and loaner bikes for practices
- Tools for repairs
- Pit zone gear for race day
- Trailers and cooking equipment
- Power for events
- Radios for safety and logistics
Cash and sponsorships help just as much. If you can donate, or help us track down a good deal, reach out! We are always looking to better the experience for our riders and coaches. We could use all donations, small and large. Below are some of the large items our team has put together to do just that.
Bikes
We maintain a small loaner bike library for riders who need a dependable bike for a season. We are always looking for quality mountain bikes in rideable condition to add to the fleet. We never want to turn away riders for financial reasons and mountain bikes can get expensive. Having bikes on hand to loan out ensures that can happen.
Bike tools
We do not yet have a team tool kit we can take to race days. Parents have been generous about bringing their own tools when kids need help, and we want to build a small team-owned set for basic repairs so that help is always there. This lets us help our riders in time-critical repairs before or during races and teach the riders about their own bike maintenance.
Repair supplies
We also need a stockpile of consumables that get used up all season: tubes, sealant, bacon strips, derailleur cable and housing, spare chains, chain lube, cleaners, and shop rags. Families have shared from personal supplies so far. A team stockpile means riders get fixed up without relying on the same few people every weekend.
Race-day rollers
We want rollers we can take to race days for light warm-ups, especially when it is raining or very hot, so kids can spin in a sheltered spot before they start.
Race-day pit zone equipment
As our equipment wears out or breaks over time, on race weekends we need gear to run the pit zone: folding tables, chairs, floor mats, coolers, and easy-to-assemble shelving for personal gear at the course. We are looking for items the team can keep and reuse, not short-term loans. We have a list of specific items that are needed and still fit into our organized trailer. Please reach out for what is needed.
Radios
We are standardized on GMRS radios for coaches and volunteers (we do not issue radios to riders). They help with race-day logistics across the venue, and at practices they help us respond if a bike breaks down or a rider is hurt so we can get them off the mountain safely.
We are also looking for a small repeater we can build into a team trailer to extend range on race weekends and traveling practices, plus holsters and other ways for coaches to carry radios while riding. Families who already own GMRS radios are welcome: we can help program them to match the team, and there is a Slack channel for the radio club once you are in the team workspace.
Enclosed trailer
We need an enclosed trailer (ideally 6'x10') dedicated to bringing cooking gear to races and events so we can feed participating athletes, families, and coaches. If you have a trailer to donate, or want to contribute toward buying one, please reach out. Sponsoring this trailer is also an excellent opportunity for sponsor logo placement.
Cooking equipment
To feed kids at races and events we need basic meal gear: grills, propane tanks, bowls, mixing tools, and similar cooking and serving supplies. Nothing fancy, just solid equipment we can use to prepare a meal at the pit zone.
Power for trailers
Trailer setups need power on site. We are looking for batteries, a generator, and possibly a small solar setup so lights, cooking gear, and other equipment can run without relying on venue power.
